Firewall (2006)

Director: Richard Loncraine

Starring: Harrison Ford, Virginia Madsen, Paul Bettany

A security specialist is forced into robbing the bank that he’s protecting, as a bid to pay off his family’s ransom.

How far would you go to save your family from the clutches of greedy evil-doers? Jack Stanfield (Harrison Ford) is prepared to go all the way when he finds himself in such a predicament.

Jack is working at a bank. In the midst of a merger, a debt collector shows up telling Jack he owes $95,000 in online gambling debt. While at a dinner meeting, Jack’s family is kidnapped. Soon after, the criminal masterminds take control of his home, his family, and of him, and is instructed to do exactly as told or harm will come to his family. They intend stealing virtual money from the bank, and need Jack, who designed the software.

With very few options, Jack is constantly looking for a way out and to warn those around him as he carries out their instructions. The film becomes a clever and nail-biting cat and mouse game as Jack tries to outwit the criminals, and takes the viewer on a wild ride in the process. There’s also a few twists along the way. It’s not always believable, but it is entertaining. Sit back, buckle up, and enjoy!
